Vital Theatre Company seeks a diverse cast of strong singers with dynamic acting skills for the premiere of  SHOW WAY, the next musical in their award winning family season.

Based on the popular book by Jacqueline Woodson with illustrations by Hudson Talbott, SHOW WAY tells the story of seven generations of women who pass quilts, or “show ways,” from daughter to daughter. As these quilts pass – from slaves who sewed paths to freedom, to civil rights marchers, to a writer in modern-day New York, to a young girl who is eager to hear each generation’s stories of bravery and courage – the women reconnect with the past and look with hope toward the future.

Only non-equity performers should apply. We are actively seeking a diverse cast. All ethnicities encouraged to submit. We will see only adult actors to play all roles.

Congratulations to the Fall Season Casts of MUSICALS TONIGHT!

Musicals Tonight opened their fall season with a bang!

Congratulations to the casts of RED,HOT & BLUE and FADE OUT/FADE IN on smart and endearing performances!

Christopher Ryan and Lauren Elaine Taylor in RED, HOT & BLUEChristopher Ryan and Lauren Elaine Taylor heat up the stage with chemistry and wit in RED, HOT & BLUE.

Backstage reports, “Taylor, so good in another Merman part earlier this year in Miller’s production of “Something for the Boys,”  holds a long note on “Ridin’ High,” and we’re very, very happy. Ryan easily negotiates the nearly two octaves of his big ballad, and Tara Lynn Khaler, playing a role we’ve seen in dozens of light farces, has acute comic timing and a supple alto. Durante’s signature style might be inimitable, but Roger Rifkin, a Musicals Tonight! mainstay, gives it all he’s got.”

Full Cast of RED, HOT & BLUE: Lauren Elaine Taylor, Christopher Ryan, Roger Rifkin, Tara Lynne Khaler, Jessica George, Ben Gleichauf, Beth Kuhn, Jody Cook, Graham Bailey, Tony Castellanos, Ashley Klanac, Rob Lorey, Megan Meyer, Molly Pope, Jeannie Schubitz and Jacob L. Smith.

FADE OUT/FADE IN is charming and delightful!

Terrence Clowe and Vanessa Lemonides sulk with charm in FADE OUT/FADE IN.

Backstage says of FADE OUT/FADE IN, “Vanessa Lemonides is a talented and game Hope, even brave enough to suggest elements of Burnett’s persona. She and the equally talented Bill Coyne, as Byron, know what’s required and provide the right flavors. Joan Barber is a hoot doubling as a once-girlish silent screen star now working in wardrobe and as power-mad gossip columnist Dora Dailey. Robin Haynes’ slyly satirical Viennese shrink, there to sort out LZ’s sexual problems, is a charmer. Terrence Clowe shuffles and taps with witty style as Lou.”

Full Cast of FADE OUT/FADE IN: Vanessa Lemonides, Rob Lorey, William Coyne, Jeffrey Arnold Wolf, Peter Davenport, Oakley Boycott, Robin Haynes, Joan Barber, Terrence Clowe, Matt Conti, Christie Dabreau, Matt DuMont, Preston Ellis, Jeannette Fitzpatrick, Judah Gavrah, Staci Jo Johnston, Allison Maldanado, Peter Mills, Aaron Ricciardi, Jacob L. Smith and Chris Woods.

Joan Barber as Dora Dailey reports that it  was an exciting fall season. Stay tuned for    the Spring  installment of Musicals  Tonight, which is sure to dazzle!
